Vocalist, keyboardist and songwriter Tony Kakko confirmed Sonata Arctica would start recording their ninth studio album in April in several home studios in Finland, with the main recording and mixing taking place at the Studio57 in Alaveteli, Finland. 5. Sonata Arctica is ok in the studio but fantastic live. You get tons of tracks on this one from two live shows. Don't Say a Word, Full Moon and White Pearl Black Ocean alone are worth it/5(20).

6. The setlist is a mix of all eras of Sonata Arctica. I see them in 3 eras right now, excluding the upcoming album "Stones Grow Her Name" -- the first 2 albums, the middle 2 albums, and the most recent 2 albums, which have divided the fanbase quite deeply.

9. Sonata Arctica formed in in the little town of Kemi, Finland. The lineup consisted of vocalist/keyboardist Tony Kakko, guitarist Jani Liimatainen, bassist Janne Kivilahti, and drummer Tommy Portimo. Perhaps the strangest thing about this power/progressive metal crew is the fact that early in their career, their style was uninvolved with metal.
